2008 Volvo S60

The 2008 Volvo S60 continues to be a performance-oriented luxury midsize sedan available in three trim levels having turbochargers enabled. The T5 delivers the sportiest performance. The other two versions are a front-wheel drive based model and an all-wheel drive trim level. All three trim levels are provided with a standard automatic five-speed transmission.

The T5 version of the 2008 Volvo S60 has the best engine – an I-5 with a horsepower of 257hp and a corresponding torque of 258lb-ft. The 2.5-liter I-5 is available in the other models, providing a comparatively modest horsepower of 208hp, as in the previous models of the S6. The Geartronic five-speed transmission is compulsory for the T5.

The 2008 Volvo S60 has a good mileage of around 26mpg on highways and around 18mpg in urban territory. The exterior has been redesigned to make it sportier than ever before, the all-wheel drive providing the best traction among the models.

Gerry Keaney wasn’t joking when he said that the Volvo was being made “sportier” – and the 2007 Volvo S60 testifies to that. Volvo’s midsize sedan has been revamped in the year 2007 for added vivacity in the driving experience, better stability and improved levels of comfort.

The '07 Volvo S60 introduces the Bi-Fuel engine into the range, alongside its petrol and diesel counterparts. The S60 R is still the top performer with its 2.5-liter I-5 generating 300 horsepower with an all-wheel drive and both manual and automatic modes of transmission.

The 2007 Volvo S60 incorporates the new chassis called the Dynamic chassis. Improved shock absorbers and roll reduction are also included. The cumulative result of these innovations is a better ride not just in terms of speed and acceleration, but also stability.

The external features have been modified with a larger grille, and integrated indicator lights in the side-mirrors. Steering-linked swiveling headlights ensure that drivers can turn the corners more safely.

2006 Volvo S60

The 2006 Volvo S60 retains most of the specifications and features of the earlier model of the year 2005. The good news for car enthusiasts is that the new S60, taken to be midway in terms of size between the S40 and the S80 ranges from Volvo, has become exclusively turbocharger-enabled. The I-5 engine lacking turbochargers is discarded in the 2006 versions.

The most powerful version of the 2006 Volvo S60 is still the high-performance S60 R trim level. With a turbocharger-enabled I-5 engine having a capacity of 2.5 liters, this model can produce up to 300 horsepower.

The '06 S60 has a number of minor modifications from the 2005 version, including an improved all-wheel-drive mechanism having an Instant Traction feature for generating extra torque at the rear-end axle.

Accessory options include leather upholstery, rear park assistance system and a moon roof. A rear spoiler is included in the sport-body package, making this sedan more than just another luxury vehicle.
